It’s been 3 years since he passed and I still miss him. He was the best friend, mentor, and teacher I ever had the privilege of ever knowing. He was an amazing teacher in a subject known for awfulness. Thank you for everything, Mr. Benton.

Tonight was the middle school culmination at the same field I graduated from 3 years prior. My last memory of Mr. Benton was seeking him out as the teachers all walked to their cars off the field. I got to thank him one last time as I knew he was headed out to Tennessee for a new job with his wife and 6 month old. The world needs more kind and smart people like him.

it’s never easy to to move on, and he sound like a swell guy. Sometimes teachers become an important part of your life be it through great teaching, being able to confide, providing encouragement and motivation and can really make a positive impact on your life. I didn’t have many inspirational teachers at school but when I hit university, I was able to cope with stress at my own personal life, and get the motivation to do well because people believed in me. I wouldn’t be who I am today without them. It sounds like you feel the same way about Mr Benton, I’m sorry to hear that he has passed on and that it’s still hurting, but he probably wants you to be happy if he knew the impact he made on you.

Thoughts go out to his little girl. As a father of two little girls it brings me to tears knowing that his little princess has to live her life without her father. Gives me chills that you posted this as I just brought both my daughters to a Mets game on Saturday.
